A Vital Pantry gift is an easy one to get right. Everything here is chosen the same way — short ingredient lists, nothing nasty — so whether it's a new baby, a housewarming or a thank you, it gets used rather than put in a cupboard.

There are two ways to send one, and both take a couple of minutes on your phone.

1. A gift card

Best when you don't know what they'd pick, or when you'd rather they chose their own delivery day.

  • Pick an amount — $50, $100, $150 or $200.
  • Tick “Email it straight to them” and add their email address, their name and a short message.
  • Choose when it lands. Today, or any date up to 90 days away — so you can set a birthday up now and forget about it.

It arrives as a code they enter at checkout, and it can be spent on anything in the shop. It never expires, and whatever they don't use stays on the card for next time. Leave that box unticked and the code comes to you instead, to pass on however you like.

2. Send them a parcel

Best when you know them well, or when the point is that something turns up at the door.

  • Fill a cart the way you normally would. The Gift Ideas collection is the quickest starting point.
  • In the cart, tick “This order is a gift”, write your message and put your name in the “From” box. I'll include the message with the delivery.
  • At checkout, enter their address instead of yours.

A few that make good presents

  • New baby or a new mum — the Nourish Mama postpartum and breastfeeding gift boxes, or a Starting Solids bundle.
  • Housewarming — Koala Eco hand wash and body lotion, a pillow and linen spray, or the Clean Home Beginner Bundle.
  • A proper treat — Love Tea, Organic Times chocolate, Medjool dates.
  • Kids — beeswax crayons, a stainless steel lunchbox, a snack hamper.

One thing to get right

Delivery days depend on the suburb. When you pick a delivery date, use their postcode, not yours — otherwise you'll be shown the days we deliver to your area, which may not be the days we go to theirs.

If you're not sure we reach them at all, check first on the delivery areas page. We deliver across Melbourne and the list keeps growing. A gift card is the safer choice if they're outside the area for now.

The practical bits

  • Delivery is free on orders over $129. Under that it's $9.99.
  • Anything fresh or chilled needs to be taken in on the day, so it's worth checking someone will be home.
  • Gift cards are emailed, so there's no delivery charge on a gift card by itself.

If you'd like a hand putting something together, email me at vitalpantry@outlook.com and I'll help you pick.
